"Bridge With A View" by Contemporary Landscape and Figurative Arizona Artist Mary Opat

20" x 16" Oil on Canvas

I believe the photo used for this painting was taken
in northern Minnesota.  Skip and his wife travel all over
the U.S. and have supplied me with photos for many future paintings!
I'd like to try this one again and go for a much looser effect.

The photo used for the bird in this painting was taken in
Mom and Dad's back yard in Iowa.  The foliage was added
from my imagination.  It's the first painting I've done using leaves and berries

My First Portrait, by Mary Opat

11" x 14"  Oil on Panel
NFS

This was my first finished portrait.  I took the photo
indoors and the lighting was great.  I was pleased with the result and
found that portrait painting isn't so scary after all!  I'm finding it
to be very satisfying.

"Sisters" Contemporary Landscape and Figurative Oil Paintings by Arizona Artist, Mary Opat

22" x 28" Oil on Canvas

I've almost finished this painting.  These two girls were
photographed in Copper Canyon, Mexico.
Photo credit to Galen Frysinger.  It hasn't been varnished yet, so
it will be fun to see how it will look when it's complete.
I'll have to live with it a few days to decide if it's finished.

Debbie's Day, original seascape oil painting by Arizona Contemporary artist Mary Opat

I've just added a new painting to  Contemporary Fine Art International.  This oil painting was from a photo I took on Huntington Beach in California.  It's called Debbie's Day. I was on a road trip with my good friend Debbie Weatherford.  I'll never forget my first trip to the beach.  Debbie was always full of life and continually smiling.  She's making angels laugh now. Paintings in the GVAL Art Show

The Gilbert Visual Art League 10th Annual Juried Show and Sale begins today and goes through Feb. 16th. I'm posting the three oil paintings that I have displayed there.  Come and check out the show if you're in the area.  The show is hosted by East Side Art located at 9919 E. Apache Trail, Mesa, AZ 85207.  Two of my paintings were done using photos taken by Kristin while visiting Steve in Alaska.  I got a sneak peek at the artwork last night and it looks like a great show!  Two of the paintings are available at http://www.maryopat.com

Lately a lot of my friends back in Iowa have been asking to see my art.  I now have an "online presence" with  Contemporary Fine Art International.  When I mentioned blogging to my niece, she asked if I have that much to say!  Well, probably not, but I will share photos of my paintings as I finish them.  I'm starting out slowly.....so here goes!  This was painted from a photo.  I haven't added it to any art sites yet.
